Our ethics charter, second edition

The board has adopted a revised charter: content tiers for sensitive work, every labeller’s right to step away from a project, and the clients and purposes we decline.

Rungwell’s board has adopted the second edition of our ethics charter, which sets out the work we will and will not do and how we look after the people who do it.

The second edition adds three things. It introduces three tiers for sensitive content, from S1 (occasional distressing material) to S3 (sustained exposure, restricted rooms only), with the wellbeing provision that goes with each. It gives every labeller the right to step away from a project for any reason without losing pay for the shift. And it lists the purposes we decline: weapons targeting, the identification of individuals without their knowledge, and work for clients who will not tell us what a system is for.

The charter was drafted with the cohort representatives at both centres and reviewed by the board’s ethics committee. It is published in full on our ethics page.
