Ethics charter, third edition

The board has adopted a third edition of our charter. Every client must now tell us, in writing, where the data it sends us came from.

Rungwell’s board today adopted the third edition of our ethics charter.

The main change is a new article on provenance. Before any project starts, the client must now state in writing how the data it sends us was collected, from whom, and on what basis it is held. A labeller should never have to wonder whether the people in the images in front of them agreed to be there.

The article draws on a report published in September by Frothly, the non-profit that runs the Turing Registry: FR-R-2026-06, a study of how the provenance and authenticity of images can be checked. Its advice to anyone who handles images is to ask where an image came from rather than how it looks. We have made that question part of every contract.

The third edition also brings the content tiers into line with the review of the wellbeing program now under way, and adds the cohort representatives’ right to ask the ethics committee to look at any project.
