Rungwell today opened its second delivery centre, on the eighth floor of Valderrama Tower in Cubao, Quezon City. One hundred and twenty labellers began work after four weeks of paid training.
The centre is led by Rowena Dimaculangan, who joins Rungwell as Country Director for the Philippines after eleven years building training programs for the contact-centre industry. Labellers were recruited with partner community colleges and parish livelihood programs in Quezon City, Caloocan and San Mateo, Rizal.
Alongside image annotation, the Manila centre offers text work in Filipino, Cebuano, Ilocano and English, and its hours overlap with the Nairobi centre’s, so that between them Rungwell’s centres are open for most of the day.
“Many of our labellers have worked before, in shops, on construction sites, abroad,” said Ms. Dimaculangan. “What they have not had is a job that teaches them something every week and a clear way up. That is what we are here to offer.”
